If I recall correctly, the slate file should be created automatically if not present, which is what I think happened when I trashed it. The mac was then interpreting this as a crash, showing the "graphics slave has not responded for 20 sec"...then "40 sec"., etc. So, anyone with a S12 should definitely trash this file pretty often (at least when some slowdown is noticed when opening the slate typing window). I would even say that this needs to be done very often, as I this window now opens faster than ever (I mean faster than when I first installed the console). Maybe you guys already knew it?
